[Heeere's Vox! With a completely different username from before. (This will become a pattern.) The video feed shows him standing at the docks, right beside the water, the biggest and most excitable grin on his face. He's also gesturing frantically with his hands.]
Great news! Amazing news! I'm bringing it to you live! Guess who's here? Go on, guess.
[Because that's not an ominous message to receive around 8 in the morning.]
[Unsurprisingly Emily is up and about at this time. In fact, she seems to be sitting outside on a table, enjoying the Winter aesthetic from a cozy cafe chair. And it's clear from the angle that the Glimmer is being prompted up by some kind of stand.
Hearing the news causes her to prematurely swallow, coughing a bit as a smile fights for dominance over her face.]
No way! [Despite how vaguely ominous this message was, she can tell that Vox is genuinely excited. Which must mean that it's someone the overlord genuinely loves. And if that alone somehow wasn't enough, the username change all but confirms it.] SHOK.WAV'S HERE?!
[Vox was not expecting Emily to actually guess correctly, which makes the reveal less of a spectacle. Still, she's excited, which is the only correct reaction to have to his precious son. He'll let it slide just for that.]
SHOK.WAV'S HERE.
[He gestures towards the water by his side with both hands, purposely imitating the Will Smith meme pose. The ocean ripples, then shakes until at last, one enormous demon shark breaches the surface. Shok.wav doesn't fly up all the way, since he's content being in the water (and also he'd go off screen), but his massive toothy grin is more than visible. A gigantic red eye focuses on the camera. Shok.wav's been filmed before, he knows how this works.]
[Emily does know her friends well. Or at least, well enough. Though to be fair, it was a rather obvious guess. Not that she's going to tell Vox that. But either way, while it is doubtful that anybody is more excited about Shok.wav's appearance than Vox, Emily is approaching a very close second. She looks at the best boy with genuine glee, eyes sparkling and lips curled into a wide smile.]
Oh my gosh, look at that smile! He's beautiful, Vox! So handsome and photogenic! Be sure to give him EXTRA hugs and pets for me!
[Yep, still the best reaction to have. Shok.wav is beautiful and loyal and the bright light of Vox's day. He laughs and reaches out, pressing a hand against the side of the shark's enormous head. The shutter of Shok.wav's eye closes for a few seconds.]
Sure, I will! Buuuut you can come pet him yourself, if you want!
[One might assume that's dangerous, but it's really not. Vox decides everyone's designation in Shok.wav's systems, and can change it at will. If he says Emily's a friend now, she's a friend (for) now.]
Really? Are you sure? I wouldn't want to interrupt such a happy moment between a proud shark dad and his shark son!
[But also she really, really wants to pet Shok.wav. Sure she knows Vox is dangerous and Shok.wav is probably even more dangerous, but she doesn't really feel like she's in any danger. She may be naive, but she doesn't really see any reason why Vox would want to hurt her here. At least, currently. She provides him with resources and treats him well. Vox may be a jerk and an Overlord, but he doesn't really seem like the kind of person who would hurt someone for no reason.
Now if it benefited him? Well, that's a different story.]
Yes, I know! Hi Husk! I'm so happy you're here! And I wanted to thank you again for helping Charlie and me contain the blast back home. That was super cool!
Anyway, I'd be honored to have you as a temporary bartender! Feel free to stay as long as you'd like.
[About fifteen or so minutes later Emily will fly down to the balcony of Lute's apartment. She'll give it a knock, just loud enough to announce that she's here, before going to open the door. She does so very gently, closing it behind her with the same level of care.]
Lute? [She asks, curiously.] I'm here. What did you want to show me?
[ Lute's place is on an upper floor of a tall apartment building that has a well-kept garden on the roof. It has a decent-sized balcony that leads into the main living area. (She keeps the balcony door unlocked because that's the entrance she always uses.) The room is gray and barely decorated other than basic (but comfy) furniture. Her helmet and sword sit on a table that's been pushed against a wall, and there's a bookshelf in the far corner that Lute is slowly starting to fill up.
She had cleaned after the fight with Niffty, but if Emily were to look hard enough, there are still a few spots of red and golden blood that Lute missed on the wall and floor outside of her bedroom door — a door which is closed because she hadn't finished cleaning that room yet. (She's been sleeping on the couch.)
Her initial thought had been to shock Emily with the sight in order to emphasize her point about the little Sinner demon's attack, but since ultimately Emily had backed her up about setting boundaries (since apparently killing anyone was not an option here, even if they deserve it), that tactic seems unnecessary. Unfortunately, Emily had backed her up in a way that humiliated Lute, but shock for revenge isn't going to help matters.
Actually, without that, Lute doesn't know what she called Emily here for other than it seemed like the right thing to do after fighting like that in a very public forum. Heaven needs to show a more united front in front of Hell than what they saw, but it's always going to be Lute versus everyone else. Well, Lute and Adam now. Again. Like it should be. But Adam is off settling his own score with the Morningstar... leaving his lieutenant to deal with the bureaucracy. Some things never change.
Well... one thing did. This time bureaucracy's representative is her friend. At least, she thinks that's still true. She came, didn't she? That's something.
Lute is just coming out of the kitchen with two steaming mugs of sweetened tea in her hands when Emily enters. She offers one wordlessly, still working out what to say. ]
[It's a strange feeling, opening a door with no one to greet her. Part of her wonders if Lute had been pulled away by something. But the door was unlocked, so it's doubtful that's the case. Maybe she needed to take care of something in one of the other rooms? Whatever the reason, Emily is by herself in the apartment of one of her friends. Because yes, they are still friends in spite of everything. She's not mad at Lute. If anything, she feels as though she could have handled that last argument better. But she can't help herself when things get heated like that. She wants peace between their realms and their people. Much like how Lute wants revenge. It doesn't matter that Adam is here, plenty of her sisters died for the cause they believe in. A cause that turns Emily's stomach.
Things are going to come to blows. She knows this. Neither of them are backing down from their beliefs. But she refuses to accept that their fates are sealed. That this tale will have no good end. And a part of her, a weak, doubtful part, wonders why she thinks that when the odds are so clearly stacked against peace. But she thinks back on their previous encounter. Things had been somewhat amicable, sure, but they still had been rough. Tensions were high. Yet Lute came to visit her. And the gentle kindness she had shown...it was beautiful. And even now, she sees traces of that beauty. Traces that belong to someone who cares about more things than killing and death. Sure the room is modestly furnished, but it's still furnished. And with comfort in mind to boot. Not to mention the bookcase with a steadily growing collection. A flash of recollection fills her mind as she thinks back to their time together in the lodge and all that had followed.
When Lute enters the room, she'll find Emily crouched in front of the bookshelf. A gentle smile is on her face even as she seems to look past the collection. The exorcist's footsteps shake her bureaucratic friend from the stroll down memory lane. She stands up to her full height and maintains the smile as she approaches. Emily accepts the mug wordlessly, before offering hers up to clink with Lute's.
Emily is feeling very nostalgic today. And it's probably obvious enough for Lute to pick up on.]
That's great! I'm... well. Better? I, uh... toughed out going to a therapist, and... Iiiiii'm gonna be starting anger management! So I guess I'm nervous, but... yeah. Better.
[He definitely sounds nervous! But... hopeful. That rare sound of hope cautiously in his voice.]
[There are no words right away, just a loud and prolonged "EEEEEEEEEE" squeak of happiness.]
I'm so proud of you, Lucifer! I know it must be scary, but you're taking some big first few steps and I'm sure they're going to pay off! And I'm really glad you feel comfortable enough with me to share that. If there's ever anything I can do to help, just let me know!
[And Lucifer will be able to see Emily clearly opening a portal before the feed cuts out. The other end of the portal will appear next to Lucifer's house boat, which Emily will fly out of at about mach 3 or so and beeline straight for the door and ringing the door bell. Ha! Ding ding!]

This is Husk, from the Hotel. The guy who looks like a cat? I heard you're opening up a cafe, and wondered if you needed a temporary bartender.
Don't worry if you've got things lined up, but I thought I'd offer.
